Does anyone have a more specific telephone number, extension, or person's name for CableCARD pairing-knowledgeable people at RCN?
I'm asking because:
1) On some channels (which I admittedly don't currently get) if I happen to tune to them, I get the grey pairing screen popping up. This indicates that the channel in question is set do-not-copy. I don't recall this happening before, which indicates that RCN is starting to set the do-not-copy CCI code.
I know my cards are not paired. The tech never called the info in and was oblivious when I asked him about it. And I've asked a number of friends with RCN and none of theirs were paired either.
2) This post (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=7276638#post7276638) over in the RCN cablecard thread indicates that it least in NY, RCN appears to want to be checking on pairing. I'm wondering if this is a precursor to some system-wide change that will make it Bad(tm) to not have a paired card. So I'd like to strike pre-emptively, as it were.
3) If you are in the Boston area and have RCN, I'd be curious to know if your card(s) are paired.
