I tried searching, but what I found was a bit old.
I recently had to change my DTV package, and (shock) my DVR lifetime fell off my account.
Instead of the "DIRECTV DVR Service Lifetime" line item on my bill, it says "DIRECTV DVR Service $6.00/mo Included in Base Pkg" It's still free, but the wording changed.
I called and they say that it states in the notes of my account that I still have lifetime service. My issue is that I have been burned by the "it's in the notes sir" before. If DTV keeps raising their rates, I plan on leaving them for FIOS, and I want to be able to sell my DVR with the lifetime (transfer the account to them).
Anyone else experience this issue? They told me they will investigate and get back to me. Is there some magic words or codes that work these days?
Thanks!

Don't think that's possible. IIRC a long time ago D* merged the Tivo service into their billing and stopped selling Tivo lifetime. For those that already had lifetime it was pegged on the account, not the box. To the best of my knowledge you can't sell/transfer a D* account.

the D* lifetime service is linked to your account and can't be transferred to another. It will die when you close your account, period.

I had seen the "lifetime can be transferred with the account" mentioned here a few times.
One example

The example you posted show that Lifetime can not be transferred. Read the last post in that thread. :)

Hmmm -- the same thread I think you read said that it CAN be transferred to another D* account if you have the right CSR (which is true for most D* complicated requests) in the post by rminsk, a usually reliable source. You were reading a quote of an earlier post that incorrectly stated it was impossible.
I am still curious, though, if anyone has done it recently ?
(Also, I distinctly remember a time whan Tivo allowed transfer of D* lifetime to a real Tivo but not sure if this is still an option)

I have never said that a lifetime with Directv can be transferred after the ownership change (after news corp.) . And I do not know what TiVo's current change policy is.

I closed my DirecTV account years ago when I moved into an apartment. DirecTV sent me a letter stating that I could give my Lifetimed DirecTV Tivo to someone else and the Lifetime would transfer. I remember that it stated that this would only work for a closed account. I gave it to my Mom and the Lifetime went on her account. Now of course DirecTV screwed it up at first and it took a couple of billing cycles to work. I also had to mention the letter when I called because the CSR had no clue about this policy. So anyway it worked, but this was years ago. Maybe the policies have changed.

Just got my latest bill, and DIRECTV DVR Service Lifetime is back on.
Have no idea how it was fixed (I only made the one phone call where I was told too bad), but I'm not questioning it. :D
