I have not recorded onto a disc (DVD-RW on a Pioneer DVR 810H) for sometime but now I get a message saying it doesn't recognize the format of the disc. Now I can playback that same disc when I have a movie I recorded from my computer. So I guess I need to know an exact brand and speed that it will recognize. Can someone please tell me that Brand/Speed?

The Pioneers want 1x or 2x maximum DVD-RWs. They will not work with 4x DVD-RWs. These are pretty hard to find these days. I have had some success finding them at Walmart and Target.
Good luck,

What about using DVD-R. I was happily using my 8x-R discs for years (I had 100s of them that I bought on sale.) Now I've run out and now I'm using TDK 1-16x DVD-R. It's hit or miss. Sometimes I can burn the disc with no problem and sometimes it gives an error message and won't complete the burn.
Are the DVD recorders inside the 810H a useless dinosaur since blue ray won the great sony vs blue ray war?
What gives? Is there any DVD I can reliably use in the 810H?

I have been using Dvd-r from Sony. They are 120 minutes, 4.7 GB, 1-16X. The sku is 2724266122. The label states "AccuCore" in small letters. These blank dvd's have worked very well. I have tried other brands that had worked in past but some of those brands are no longer available. These Sony dvd's are currently available. The Pioneer Tivo dvd burner is a great machine and still works well with the right dvd's.

I have been using Verbatim Digital Movie DVD-R 4X for several years with 100% success. They have recently switched their product to 8X (for no apparent reason.) My first purchase of the 8X version was 100% failure. I have contacted Verbatim and Pioneer but responses have been useless. I have never had success with any discs other than the ones noted above. I tried the Sony 1-16 with no success. "Invalid or unsupported media" What???? I have $2000 into this unit counting upgrades and lifetime subscription but am now at the end of my rope. Might this be a burner problem (coincidentally?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
