Hello everyone -
Just wanted to give you a heads-up that soon you will receive a software update to the Comcast DVR with TiVo Service. All users will be upgraded over the next few weeks. This update includes a few exciting new features as well as continues to improve your overall TiVo experience. Here is a quick description of the new features:
1. Saved On Demand Programs
When you find an On Demand program you want to watch, but don't have time, you can now save it for later viewing. Select "Add to Saved On Demand" from the program screen, and it will be added to the new Saved On Demand folder in your TiVo Recordings list. When you're ready to watch, just select the Saved On Demand folder.
2. Deleted Recordings Folder
You'll now find a Deleted Recordings folder at the bottom of the TiVo Recordings list. If you accidentally delete a recording, you can recover the recording from this folder. Programs are kept in the Recently Deleted folder only until space is needed for new recordings, at which point they are deleted permanently.
3. Prompt to Extend Live Recordings
When you schedule a recording indicated as "Live" in the guide data, you will now see an option to add extra time to the end of the recording.
This reminds you to pad recordings that tend to run long (e.g. sports, Academy Awards) so you don't miss the end of your program.
We hope you enjoy these new features for the Comcast DVR with TiVo Service. Thanks again for your support and feedback.

How can I disable #2? I would prefer to have the permenantly delete functionality.

Can't speak definitively, but this feature (#2, Deleted Items Folder) was on the Series 2 DVR I had before going to the Comcast HD DVR w/Tivo. In that software, you could select a given item from the Deleted Items Folder and permanently delete it.

The Recently Deleted Folder is the feature I missed most when moving to Comcast from my Series 2, having had a number of occasions of unwatched programs accidently and irretrievably deleted by either me or my kids. This feature just designates the "deleted" programs as immediately eligible to be overwritten. Since deleting is mostly about freeing up recording space, I'm not sure I see the benefit of disabling the feature in favor of permanent delete.

Greetings, All!
I'm fortunate enough to have moved into a house in Cambridge, MA this month that has the new Comcast HD Tivo receiver. Certainly seems like an improvement over the old Comcast DVR system I used the last time I lived in a Comcast service area.
As a favor to my new roommate, I've been attempting to program the Comcast/Tivo remote control for use as the primary remote for the TV and box, but I've been unable to find a user guide/information on how to enter the codes to do this.
I think it's probably due to the limited roll-out of this service so far. Comcast Rep- is there a place you might be able to point me, or directions you can post for this procedure? I'm connected to a Samsung DLP.

Greetings, All! ...
As a favor to my new roommate, I've been attempting to program the Comcast/Tivo remote control for use as the primary remote for the TV and box, but I've been unable to find a user guide/information on how to enter the codes to do this. ...Go to the Tivo menu,
Select "Settings and Parental Controls",
Select "Remote Control",
Select "TV Power, Vol and Mute" (or words to that effect),
Step through the menu and select your tv from the list and it will give you codes to try and instructions on how to set it.
I'm pulling that from memory and it has been a long time since I've used a comcast/tivo but at least it's something to try in the absence of other replies.
Good Luck!

Perfect, JMOak!
Thank's a ton - that's quite the memory you have , if it has indeed been a long time. Worked like a charm! Thank you.

Another feature, and a killer one if you ask me...
Online Scheduling
I got a thing in the mail yesterday saying it was "coming soon"

For the most part the new software acts like a TiVo, ... New England Comcast Motorola TiVo Service Announced. .... I don't have any updates. Last I heard (same as CES) Comcast employees .... Other than the polished UI, what does Comcast DVR-with-TiVo provide that Comcast DVR-withOUT-TiVo does not?

Just got the update this morning. I hadn't been reading here and only noticed it after deleting a program without a confirmation. Have not had a chance to play around with it, but it seems to be slightly faster in my 5 minutes of catching the morning news.

So the update isn't bad, except that it records every showing of any show with repeats. For example, USA shows Burn Notice and Royal Pains a few times a week, I get recordings of every single one of these even though its already been recorded. Anyone else seeing this?

How do you get a HD Comcast TiVo box? I called comcast but the sales rep said they only offer cards if you have a tivo.
Any ideas??

I wish they would offer the Tivo software in Central PA. It sure would beat the crappy I-Guide nonsense.

You can always go to Deleted Items folder and delete the stuff you want gone.

What is happening with this? I have the Comcast Motorola DCT3412 HD DVR and it seems the same as for the last couple of years.
