We currently have a Directv TIVO DVR 40 system we received as a wedding present back in 2004. We've had great times and no problems with it. How long would DirecTv support this model? I'd like to keep it around for a while. We recently also have an HD DVR from DirecTV which is ok but it's not Tivo.

We are users here, not DirecTV... but, since DirecTV has just signed a new agreement with Tivo to produce a new HiDef model, my personal guess is "forever"
But, at that age, your hard drive won't last forever... you might want to use http://mfslive.org/winmfs/ to clone your drive to a new one
I did this, after one drive died, and now have 3 units with 320Gig drives in place of their original 80Gig drives

Replaced my drives already with 80GB from a PC which no longer works. The drives are great as they were still in the box. Still want to get alot of use. If I can put in a 200GB drive I will in a heartbeat.

I assume by "support" you mean continue to provide programming. They will as long as you can keep the unit working or until they shut down the MPEG2 stream on the 101 Sat.
I'm sure there are a lot of UltimateTV DVRs still being used. That model was discontinued many years ago.
