I moved to a new house that uses SWM and HR2X receivers. I still have an HR10-250 with a bunch of old shows on it - can I power this up to watch the recorded shows without a satellite connection?

Yes. Just press the DirecTV (TiVo) button to skip the "searching for satellite" message.
