This is the first time in months I've tried to use my Rhapsody subscription through my TiVo. An error code popped up with the number 50006. What does that mean, and why won't the service work? (It did work a few months ago.) By the way, I did receive the newest updated firmware to my TiVo HD unit.

I got the same error, when trying to sign up for a free trial.

I tried it today, the free trial thing worked fine for me. I'm wondering what software version you guys that are having the issue are on? I don't think my Tivos have received the latest update yet.

Hey gang,
Brand new Tivo owner and long time Rhapsody subscriber here.
I got a good deal on a Tivo HD and immediately ordered a 1TB drive to replace the 160 GB drive. The 1TB came with Tivo software 9.2 installed. I installed the new disk yesterday.
I am not able to play Rhapsody channels after installing the new drive. I forced a Tivo software update and I now have software version 11.0c-01-2-652 which I'm assuming is the latest. Now, when I go to Rhapsody, I notice some changes in the interface that are different than what I experienced yesterday with the original disk installed...the background is the "cloud" background and not the "light bulb" background that the rest of the Tivo interface employs. Plus, when I go to Rhapsody Channels and try to listen to a channel, I get an "Application closed during a read (0x50006)" error.
I spoke with a Tivo support tech this a.m. We opened a case. I told him that the application worked well with the original drive but is not working correctly with the new drive. We tried a cold boot of the machine but that made no difference. He was going to refer me to Rhapsody but it is not their problem since I can connect to Rhapsody with my Denon receiver and play channels with no problem (both the Denon and the Tivo are connected to the same router so the internet connection is not the problem). BTW, I can play Rhapsody tunes on the Tivo as long as I don't play channels.
The support tech said that if I change out the disk to the original and I have no issues that it is probably the new disk. He said that Tivo's are very picky and something in the software may have a problem with the new Hitachi disk. I find that pretty hard to believe especially after reading this thread.
I hope others will open cases with Tivo because I believe they are passing off my experiences as a "non-standard disk" issue.
I'll update this thread and look forward to others' experiences as well.

Well whaddaya know. Just went to try the Rhapsody one more time after connecting to the Tivo mothership yet again. When I first got in to the Rhapsody app, I got a "Sheduled Maintence" message. I went out, back in, and now suddenly the Rhapsody channels now work. So much for the new hard drive being the cause.
Rhapsody life is good for now. We'll see how it goes from here.

Oh well...
Tried Rhapsody Channels again and same issue...shows "Loading..." on the choices screen and that's as far as it goes. If anyone...ANYONE...is using the Rhapsody Channels with Tivo HD software 11.0c, please respond with your experiences.
Thanks.

Looks like I'm the only one interested in Rhapsody working correctly...sigh...
Anyway, if anyone reads this:
I did get the Channels to work last night but only once. Every other time I tried I got the "Loading..." message and no channels.
The problem continues.
