View Full Version : Request--Lost 5/6 thread

I have a favor to ask. When the 5/6 episode of Lost airs, could you please not start the discussion until the evening of the following Sunday? I'm leaving for Kalamazoo on Wednesday 5/6, and while I'll have access to a TV there, it's just a little 13-inch 4:3 model. I'd rather wait until I get home on Sunday afternoon and watch it in HD. But the threads here get really unwieldy really fast, so it would be a lot more convenient if we didn't start until Sunday night. I should have the episode watched by about 6:00 Central time.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Dude, you blew it... you actually STARTED the discussion of it yourself! DOH!
You'd have better luck to ask Fox to BIH. :)

Don''t worry about the thread getting too long. There will only be actual content on the first page or two. It will be nothing but continuous smeeking beyond that.

Sounds like a plan, but can we make it Monday instead of Sunday. No specific reason.

Oh, I can't, can I?
I'm tempted to show you just how serious I can be!
Although the Normans on the whole were not willing to submit to an alien invader, they did not always feel a sense of solidarity and brotherhood. Indeed, the Normans had a history of personal feuds, often quite intense, and although Henry I had worked long and hard to bring order to his realm, his death, and the absence of a strong successor, freed the Normans from any restraints they had felt. Old feuds erupted into private warfare, before which the Angevin onslaught paled in comparison. These private wars indirectly hindered Geoffrey’s cause in two ways. First, Geoffrey’s supporters, William Talvas and especially Roger de Tosny, participated freely in these wars. To the men fighting William and Roger, Geoffrey became “the friend of my enemy,” and thus not someone whom they would be naturally inclined to follow. Second, the infighting destabilized Normandy in general, making it harder for anyone to bring the duchy under control.
Is that serious enough for you?!?

And here's a simple suggestion for you, genius.
Maybe you should hang around a little longer than a couple of weeks before you start bitching at the regulars. If you had, you might have picked up on the fact that HE WAS KIDDING.

Sure. Why not?
I propose we take it to the ultimate level though. Let's not talk about Lost again until the series finale. That way we'll have all the damn answers (we hope), and there won't be any goth/gaunt arguments.

I think we'd all be willing to hold off discussion if you would admit two things:
1. Sun never slept with her English teacher, they were just playing naked hide and seek and both decided to hide in the same bed.
2. Whatever happened did not necessarily happen because time is in fact wibbly wobbly timey wimey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY_Ry8J_jdw).

You're probably SOL dude. I've had several instances where I couldn't get around here for a few days after the episode, and then whatever I put is considered "smeeking" (do people use these worlds in reality? lol...) because like you I don't usually have time to read every single post on a seven page thread before posting what is my own opinion anyway.
I like this board a lot more then the freakshow that goes on at IMBD, but when it comes to Lost, the thread gets too big too fast sometimes so it's not worth it because god forbid you repeat something, hahah... That's the only downside--the one-thread-per-episode thing is understandable and clearly keeps the board much neater, and it works fine with just about every other show, but with Lost it's a giant clusterf*** of theories, quantum phsyics, scholarly comparisons, existentialism, with plenty of "board police" who actively cry about "smeeking" and will take the time to find the previous post, copy it, paste it, and hyper link it instead of just responding. LOL
Gotta love it.

Rob, not only will I not start talking about the episode until Sunday night, but I won't even watch it until you let me know it's okay to do so. That way I won't experience any of the Lost goodness until you can, too.
I'll check this thread every 10 minutes or so (after Wednesday night's broadcast time, of course), so just post here to let me know when to watch!

This is the point where someone makes a joke about time travel, concerning how the thread has already been posted in 1977. Or maybe the joke was already posted in 1977. I'm so confused.

To be honest, that just blows my mind...not just you, but that anybody could have taken that seriously. I thought of the six billion threads on TiVoCommunity, this would be the last one that needed a smiley. Obviously, I was wrong.
Remind me to tell you my thoughts on maps and lines some day...

God is an iron.
On the other hand, Rob, I wonder if it may be okay as a compromise for us to start the thread, but we are all only allowed ONE post? :)

I don't even watch Lost anymore (ok, I know that means I have absolutely no right, then, to even be IN a Lost thread! :)), but that OP busted me up! :D
(And it seemed clearly obvious to me he was kidding - must be something in the Minnesota water).
The rest of the thread just got better! Thanks for the laughs, folks! ;)

But if you care enough to post your own opinion, can't we safely assume you expect someone to read it? Why post it otherwise? And if you expect someone else to read your opinion, why isn't it just common courtesy to return that favor to the ones who got there before you (and probably have already made your points)?
So I will yet again ask the question that no one has ever answered: if you aren't going to read what others have posted before you, why should anyone else read your pearls of wisdom?
And no, I'm not the "board police" - I have no power over you. But I do have my own opinion and will post it, just like you do.

Here's what needs to happen since I too will be away from my HDTV. Everyone wait untill the next Tuesday evening to watch and post anything. After all, this is a TiVo group. What's the point of having a DVR if you don't use it?

Tuesday?!? That's absurd.
OK, I suppose just to be safe... :D)
