No thread?
Loved the episode!
You saw that Sam was going to somehow win the contest, but that was a great way of doing it.
Poor Allen! I hope he can resist the temptation of Vegas!
Grandmother was funny :D

One thing ran through my mind in this episode. Sam is short. He's a lot shorter than Morgan. Even the Devil is taller than him.
I knew Allen was going to run into problems. I don't know why Sam keeps thinking he can outwit the Devil.

The Devil can't FORCE Allen to gamble, so there is a SHOT he won't.

No way, considering the way he acted at the track.
I wonder what talent Sam has that he could beat the Devil with? I don't think we've seen anything so far that he's really good at, other than pretty good at catching souls.

Does Bret Harrison have the same "Owww... Why'd you do that?" reaction to everything? A bit limited in his acting chops...
Also, it seem like an awful lot of trouble to build a portal just to spring two souls from Hell. You would think that the escaped soul would line up a few more buddies.

A bit limited in his acting chops...It's hard to judge from just one role. Perhaps it's not Harrison who's limited, but Sock.

That would depend entirely on what he was planning.

I noticed this too for the first time. Either Morgan is 7 foot or Sam is 5'3" ;)

I don't understand why one of them didn't go to Vatican City with Allen. No reason Sock couldn't go, other than he's worthless. I know it's TV, but if I were in Sam's position, I would have gone with him. Failing that, I think Andi would go.
I still love this show and am very sad that it won't get renewed.

I thought of that too. Except that from their point of view Sam would have drawn the Devil's attention to the situation. Not that the Devil wasn't aware of it anyway.
They should have done some diversionary tactic with the devil.
Anyway, I'm wondering if now that Sam is the Devil's second-in-command on Earth, if his duties will change.

He's 6' 5" and Sam is 5' 10".

It's not official yet, but everybody seems to be moving on.

Close enough. You probably have a better chance at winning the lottery than the show has of getting renewed.

Am I the only one that knows they should have killed Alan so he'd go straight to heaven and never back to hell rather than messing with sacred ground? It's so obvious, but I guess these guys are idiots...

More to the point, are you so sure he'd go to heaven anyway?
He got a "get out of hell free" card, but does that mean when he's re-judged on his re-demise, he's guaranteed the Pearly Gates? Wouldn't it be ironic if escaping from hell is a mortal sin?

They did have a demon that was dating one of them. I don't think she would have been too worried about killing him. And, presumeably since the devil can't have him back, he is back to sin free...(that's why he is fighting the temptations)

I take it from Sam's conversation with the devil that the rules in this world are everybody who sins even once goes to hell, so I'm guessing it's a busy place. No forgiveness from Christ is mentioned, so I guess we're all doomed. The boys might as well do what they want.

I don't think the Devil really wants Sam as his Number 2 right now.
I think he really wants Morgan in that role and this is all part of his plot to motivate Morgan.
And if Sam gets hurt in the process, so much the better.

Or maybe it's simply because Sam is more moral than that.

I'm not convinced he even wants a Number 2. He might be playing a more devious game.

The whole Vatican City thing was annoying. Vatican City is a tiny little piece of land in the middle of Rome, you can't just rent an apartment there. Only priests and other religious can live there at the invitation of the Pope.

I think it's more a matter of if people are killed before they get the chance to sin (armageddon type situation, or the planet getting ruined causing a human die-off), not that if they sin they are instantly one of "his". He was complaining more that he wouldn't get the chance to get any of them, not that they would have all been automatically hell-bound.
Also, in Alan's case, it's only because of the loophole that he can't sin. As far as Sam and the rest of the guys, and even most of the rest of the world, they've never touched the forgiveness issue at all.

Maybe he was planning on joining the Swiss Guard. IIRC they're barracked within the confines of the City.

All he has to do is rape a little kid, and the church would be happy to hide him.
