I have a type 3 Tivo and would like to transfer saved shows to my old VCR. The output from my TIVO is a HDTV socket while my old VCR take 3 RCA plugs. I cant find a cable that will connect the two. Any suggestions?

Did you know you can send those shows to a computer if both is on your network and then you can then convert to .mpg and put on DVD. Another way is to make DVD at or near high quality using videoredo (http://www.videoredo.com).

If you save to a VCR, you will lose video quality and HD shows will be picture framed (bars all around the picture). Video tape is not designed for long term storage because the video and audio are stored magnetically and over time will 'discharge' leaving you with very poor video.

Using a DVD recorder may be better, but video may be downgraded by its circuitry if it was only designed to record SD video.

The three RCA jacks you want to use are the red, white and yellow ones for composite output to a VCR or DVD recorder. There is also an S-Video output that can go to a DVD recorder or an upscale VCR that might have an S-Video input. The red and white jacks still need to be used for audio with the S-video connection.

The other trio of RCA jacks are for component video output.

The other trio of RCA jacks are for component video output.

Namely, these jacks are colored Blue, Green and Red.
