First of all, spoiler warning for all episodes of either show (Lost or Heroes) - but no outside spoilers - just things from the show.

I've been plowing along trying hard to still enjoy Heroes and I'm starting to fail. If the season finale wasn't one episode away, I'd actually bail (I rarely if ever bail on any show.. once I'm in, I'm usually in).

I found it laughable after watching the past two episodes how many times it looked like the writers all wished they were writing for Lost..

So here's my list (I'm starting out with just the last two episodes).. Feel free to add to it, from any episodes you care to:

Flashback episode to 1961, so they can try inserting some history that they wish they'd established a long time ago (stealing socks doesn't quite cut it).

Film canister lying around with answers.. (Orientation film)

Danko's suggestion for how to fix Sylar's identity crisis: Find an "anchor" (find a "constant"). He even says "so when you're feeling Lost, you'll have something to hold onto"

Three times in the "I am Sylar" episode they said Lost, including "Why do I feel so Lost?" and "You're not Lost!"

Sylar in the same episode: "Dead is dead." (very recent Lost episode title)

The picture on the wall when Sylar talks to Micah is of a swan

Hiro's got a nosebleed

Can't wait for the finale so I don't have to watch for a while. I find the Sylar stuff (and maaaybe some of the Hiro/Ando story) is almost the only thing keeping me watching.

Sylar in the same episode: "Dead is dead." (very recent Lost episode title)

I doubt very much Heroes got this from Lost; I'm guessing both Heroes and Lost got it from Joe Quesada's infamous statement (Quesada is the editor-in-chief of Marvel comics, who when he first took over around 2000 made a number of edicts; one was "dead is dead," which turned out to be exactly as silly as one might expect). Both shows have current and/or former Marvel writers on their staffs.

The funny thing is, for somebody who knows the context of "dead is dead," it has a very different meaning than for normal people. To a comic book person, "dead is dead" is usually followed by a snort of derision. And I suspect (strongly, in the case of Heroes) that this is what is intended. Sylar, who has died at least twice and is thought to be dead now, says "dead is dead"; how exactly are we supposed to respond? A snort of derision, perhaps?

Back when I was still reading Marvel titles, I made the comment that most of their characters had died at least once. :p

During Peter David's Hulk run, there's a scene where Rick Jones asks the people in the room (most of the supporting cast): "OK, everybody here who's been dead raise your hand." More than one person does.

On a related note, I am starting to see The Number 23 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Number_23) everywhere. ;)

Oh, are we that close to the finale? Awesome. This show has become a chore to watch. Maybe I'll just drop it now if it has that little time to recover.

I haven't seen yesterday's episode yet, but the one with Alice the previous week was just painful.
