I have a Hughes SD-DVR40 that's been hacked. I've had it for 4 years. Recently, it has started to re-boot itself. Can anyone suggest where to look (log files?) to diagnose why it is re-booting? I did not hack this unit, so I'm no expert. But I have telnetted to the box and tweaked config files, etc., so I'm not afrade to poke around. I would just like to know what's going on.

I have had to disable one of the satelite inputs because one of the lines was coming in pixelized. I don't think it was the unit because the pixelization followed the wire coming in.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Download Hard Disk Sentinentel http://www.hdsentinel.com/index.ph
use that to test for disk problems. The pixelation may be caused by a multiswitch gone marginal or bad.

So, how do I test my drive on the TiVo? Do I ftp the program over to the TiVo, then telnet in and run it?

By the way, their website url has changed to:

Thanks

You have to remove the drive from the TiVo mount it in the PC and run the test in the PC, don't worry the test is nondestructive. :)

With the initial tuner 2 problems and now the sporadic reboots my guess would be the power supply.
