Buying TiVo HD from Amazon -- then lifetime subscription

Hi,
Newbie here. This is probably a stupid question but I searched the forums and couldn't find the exact answer. If I buy a TiVo HD from Amazon, can I then go to the TiVo website and just select "Activate a TiVo" and I'll get an option to purchase the lifetime subscription for it?

I ask because there is no way to purchase a lifetime subscription from the TiVO website (by adding it to the shopping cart) without also buying a DVR from their site. But Amazon's prices are cheaper, so...

I'm actually curious about this myself. I'd also like to know if you can do this then do you still get the discounted $299 lifetime price if you link it to an account that already has a TiVo on it?

Yes, you can do this. Just log into your account first, then activate the new TiVo. The price shown will be the discounted price.
