At the beginning of the show, she dreamed about Joe and older daughter driving back from the ski trip and arguing, it was raining, and they were about to hit something in the road when she woke up.
When they actually got home, she asked about the ride and he said they didn't speak and it didn't rain (and obviously they didn't hit anything).
Then the rest of the episode happened and this wasn't mentioned again.
What was the purpose of her dreaming that they were arguing and it was raining, when it didn't happen that way? Did I miss some explanation of that?

I thought that the whole beginning of the show was a dream--she didn't "actually" wake up until the end when Joe came home. So, the car conversation you refer to was actually a dream within a dream.

Hmm...maybe this is right.
But I asked my wife the same question Scooterboy posed when the episode ended. The purpose of that whole scene was lost on me.

Since that scene was part of a storyline that continued from the previous episode, I'm thinking that maybe it will be picked up again in the next ep. I hope so, because I also wondered about the significance. Even if it was a dream within a dream, her dreams usually are fairly specific and accurate with that sort of detail. We may see from a broader perspective later on that gives us a new appreciation for what we saw, but details such as rain, location, etc. are usually accurate (at least per my recollection, which may not be accurate.)

Sometimes a dream is just a dream.

I don't know about that scene, but the last couple episodes really hit you over the head with the twist: this episode's showing the lawyer did it, and the last one about the sister not being the sister. By the time they revealed the truth, you knew it for the past twenty minutes.

Doesn't she ever get annoyed at how her dreams dribble out vital information, piece by piece? It's like The Powers That Be who gave her this ability are, gee, like TV scriptwriters or something. :D

I get irritated with that sometimes. This past episode I wanted her to scream "CHECK THE DAMN LAWYER FOR GSR! HE DID IT"

Every episode begins with a dream, if they hadn't put that scene in it would have been obvious that the whole episode was a dream.

Well, Alison didn't come along until the guy was going to trial. I'm pretty sure any GSR the lawyer would have had would be long gone by that time.

Well I did put the date in the title so I assumed anyone who hadn't seen this episode would stay out anyway. I guess I could have added "(spoilers)". Oh well.

For what it's worth, when I saw the thread title with the word "question" and no mention of spoilers, I pretty much thought it was not necessarily an episode discussion thread, but just a question about something in the episode. Further, in reading the OP, it still had the feel of "I just have a question" thread.
Having said that, I also figured that since the thread didn't "die" right away and there didn't seem to be a standard episode discussion thread that there was a very good likelihood there would have been something spoilerish posted. It certainly would have left the door open for someone to point out 'un-spoilerized' discussion items as something that should have been. In this case I had already watched the episode, so nothing would have been ruined for me.
On the flip side, if someone didn't want to be "spoiled" and hadn't watched the episode yet, there would have been enough evidence (for me, anyway) to assume there would be spoilers and to stay out.

I gave it the respect of "it's an episode specific thread, in the TV forum, spoiler rules apply in a normal fashion"
