Currently I have a Tivo HD with about 10 Season Passes set & I record Movies when I see them in the guide on HBO.
I have it set to organize by Date and in folders, with the addition of 500gig I am affraid I will have a huge list of Movies and Shows.
Is there any way to create folders and move shows around?
It would be nice to group movies.

Unfortunately, there's no way to manually sort existing movie recordings into folders. You can create autorecord wishlists for all HD movies from 2009, and those movies will be organized into a single folder. You could break it up into genres if you want, using separate wishlists to provide one folder with 2009 HD Action movies, one folder with 2009 HD Dramas, one folder with 2009 Comedies, etc.
If you record sports, make sure you sort your college and basketball teams into folders, as mentioned in the TiVo Tips link below.

I download my programs to an external hard drive on my iMac and organize them there in folders. I then use pyTivo to bring back a program to my TiVo S3 whenever I want to watch it.

What do you do exactly?
Thanks,
Shane
PyTiVo is a free program that has TiVoDesktop functionality and then adds a bunch more.
One other option, which I use, though it is fee based, is to use TiVoDesktop+. I had purchased that license to do on the fly iPod conversions. Anyways, I can use TD+ to push programs back grouped in folders.
One example.....I rip some of my movies (thanks to a dying DVD player) to a folder called "DVD Movies" within the "My TiVo Recordings" folder on my external HD. I then open TD+ and "publish" the folder. Then, voila, the movies start to transfer back to the TiVo into a folder in my Now Playing List called DVD Movies
