The coupon will only be good with Tivo.com and will only be for about 5% off the purchase price - and you will have to pay shipping. That is after the lawyers collect about 150 million for their services to get you a coupon worth about $2.50, maybe.

It would be better if we could get congress to bail us all out. I figure, with the government in charge of Tivo remotes, in about five years and 50 billion dollars - you will have a remote twice the size that is solar powered (no batteries cause those are harmful, and the government forgot to include them anyway). And it will only cost about $100 each, not including shiping, from Tivo.gov, but don't worry - you get a $50 tax credit, if you fill out the right forms and can afford an accountant to figure out the 30 pages of requirements to earn the credit.

LOL, The funny part of this is that my Dog did actually did eat my first Tivo remote some 10 years ago. As was said about the "other" thread, I thought it might be an April Fools joke, turned out that other thread was just a fools joke.

Funny thing is he leaves my Harmony remote (which suffers the same affliction) alone. Lucky for him.

I called Tivo today about this issue and their CSRs are very rude. I explained that my dog ate my remote and that it was all their fault... to my surprise they were not sympathetic about the situation. The CSR had the audacity to blame me for leaving the remote on the floor and said that if I had not done this then my dog would not have been tempted by their poor judgment in design.

There must be some way to make them pay for their arrogance and my misfortune.

Next thing will be a lawsuit against the initial designer of the surf board for making people look like shark food.

They should be able to avoid that if they put a prominent warning label on all surfboards...

Great advertising. The TiVo Remote: Fits great in your hand and in your dog's mouth.

I love the surfboard comment! "Warning: Use of this surfboard will make you look like a fish, which are easily consumed by sharks. If wearing a black wetsuit, you will look like a seal, which are also easily consumed by sharks."

Well, if Tivo had just put a warning label on my remote then maybe I would not have this problem. However, I'm not sure that he can read just yet. He's only 8 months old.

I've always thought it looked like a peanut.

My daughter is allergic to peanuts.

Now she can't touch the remote because we've taught her to avoid peanuts. The remote should have come with an allergy warning so that I know it isn't made of peanuts.

I smell a lawsuit!

If your dog ate the remote you just have to wait a few days. This too shall pass.

My sister's german shepherd ate a digital camera and an iPod Nano. He did not swallow them, but he sure did chew them up. I wonder if TiVo will change the name from the peanut remote to the bone remote?

magnus
04-06-2009, 07:08 PM
Damn, I did not put that as an option on the poll. :)

Hopefully, she won't be scared of it.... definitely needs a warning label. What else does a Tivo remote look like? Maybe that should be the poll. :D

Had a nice rib roast the other day. The thing is, one of the bones looked like my TiVo remote. At first I was highly upset, I could not figure out how my wife had managed to get the remote inside the roast - I was not pleased. I complained and when the bone hit my head - I knew it was not the remote. I then suggested that after this wonderful meal she had prepared, we give the actual bone to the dog to chew on in the back yard. After dinner, she promptly picked up the TiVo remote and threw it in the backyard for the dog. Knowing the real bone was still in the house, I kept quiet this time (just in case I was confused again). Though she was pretty upset when she could not get the bone to select her favorite show. Will this be covered by a the class action lawsuit?

...I complained and when the bone hit my head - I knew it was not the remote. ...

my wife zinged the remote at my head way back when. I ducked. She pegged my best friend. I'm pretty sure she knew it was a remote and not a bone. But now I'm not so sure....

And for those of you who know what an EHR is... you'll need to prove "meaningful use" of your TiVo remote in order to get your part of the stimulus package.

FrodoB
04-08-2009, 08:36 AM
Yes, but at least EHRs will have the Secretary of Health and Human Services to define what meaningful use is.

If one ever gets confirmed, anyway...

TiVo remote meaningful use will probably be determined by the FCC. Meaning you probably will be disappointed with the definition but have no recourse. :)

How about a Bark to go along with the Bone Remote?

Surely you are not suggesting that this thread is a joke.

This is serious stuff... Tivo has wronged me... they poorly designed the remote and caused undue stress for my dog.

First of all, in order to change the channel I have to pull on his right ear. The Tivo button is now mapped to his forehead. He never lets me change the channel when Dog Whisperer is on. It's very difficult to use search to find programs.... you get the point.

It's a good thing lifetime is not connected to the remote. I hope someone from Tivo sees this thread and can get me a new re-designed remote. Hurry Tivo this is really bad product design. Can't you guys test things better? Can you please train your CSR about this issue?

You are a day late.
