i take shows from my tivo to my pc them burn them to a dvd that will play on my computer. I have two questions
1: can i make these to play on my dvd player? which currently does not recognize the disc.
2: can i make my recordings so they will play on any pc without downloading tivo desktop?
Thanks guys.

If you are willing to spend $80 for VideoReDo TVSuite, then you can do both, including editing. It also has a short trial period for free.
Converting to .mpg will make it play on PCs and DVD players that support it.
TivoDecode will only convert to .mpg.

www.videoredo.com for that, and you can search this forum for TivoDecode (free also).
