Greetings All;

I just recently upgraded my original series 1 Tivo to an HD and didn't realize that they removed the "List" button from the remote. The "list" function is still supported in the machine; just not on the remote. I need someone in the Philly area (or Delaware Valley) to let me copy that key onto my universal remote. This will take about 2 seconds and I'll bring my remote over. Other ideas are that someone that might have one laying around can send it to me and I'll send it right back and pay postage both ways. I used to have a DirecTivo but gave it away to someone in the group when I went back to cable. (he lives way too far to drive over and learn it onto my remote).

Thanks in advance.

You can go to radio shack and pick up one of the following models, 15-2142, 15-133, 15-134, or 15-135. Using either VCR /pvr code 00618 or sat 01442, the advanced code for list is 00166.

1. pvr or sat
2. press and hold P for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap P for one blink
5. enter 0 0 1 6 6
6. pick an unused key

Thanks but didn't want to buy a remote. I have a universal remote. Obviously if I have to I'll just get one off ebay; just looking to save the ten bucks.

If you do what Edmund said in his post, I believe you can program the current remote to create a 'list' button.

This site has a lot of info about remote codes.

You will have 30 days to return the remote, if it didn't suit your needs. :)

come to Reisterstown Md, I'll give you tivo peanut.

I don't remember what "List" does.

I'll have to search for my original Series 1 remote.

It takes you to "Now Playing". It was on the Series 1 but they took it off for the Hd version and I thought they also took it off the Series 2 remote. The Series 1 does not operate the TivoHD but the DirecTivo remote does. This is according to the master thread for the TivoHD.

see if your cable remote is made by UEI, try codes 0618 or 20618. If it takes it you can use the steps in my first post to get the LIST command. Or while pointing the remote at the tivo just tap SETUP key, and enter code 166. See if the NPL shows up.

Umm. the cable remote doesn't id the manufacturer; its the standard Comcast dvr 3416 remote. My regular remote is the MX500.

So whats stopping you from entering code 0618 or 20618 onto the cable remote on either AUX or VCR or whatever open device on the remote?

Tried both and 0618 is the code that works most of the functions but no button that replicates the "list" button.

Right it won't be preset to key, using the steps in my first post will allow you to map the list command to an unused key in the device with code 0618 programmed to it. So:

1. device with code 0618
2. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap SETUP for one blink
5. enter 1 6 6
6. pick an unused key

That got me the guide key. Still playing with it. Is there a final confirmation key press?

Advanced code 166 is the exact IR code as List key on peanut remotes. So if 166 only brings up the Guide on your tivo, so would a peanut remote with LIST key. I say you're out of luck.

Isn't this the problem where the same key has two different functions? I forget, but there is a way to toggle the key to work either way.

Here's hoping you remember before I spring for a used remote from ebay. (I've already put in a bid for 8.50 but don't expect to get it for that price).

No, the series one tivo remotes had combination key for Guide and livetv, not list. Which is Advanced code 121, stay away from that. For series two and newer tivos you would use separate advanced codes for Guide-150 and livetv-058.

Oh yeah, that's what it was. Sorry for the late reply, not that it matters now.

BTW, how do you "cone" a remote? :)

clone a remote and I've pretty much given up on it.
