I just joined this site this evening...I am having a problem with my Pioneer DVR-810H...I had the unit out of use for the last 8 months. I went to hook it up today and when I power it up I can here the fan start up but receive no other indication that the unit is working...No Power lights come on and the DVD tray will not open when I press the eject button. It had worked fine when I last used it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Gary

Welcome!
I'm thinking some sort of hard drive problem. It worked before you stored it, right? Could you have shook it or something so a drive cable came loose? Unlikely but...
If you are comfortable opening it up you can check to see if all is connected, and maybe use a computer to check the drive. I've never heard of non powered drives going bad though.

Thanks for the help...since my last post the "power on" lights have come on in the front display but that is it. The DVD Drawer does not open..(is there away to force open..?) and I get a Blue screen on my TV

Yes I've done it a few times. Here are some directions:

It still sounds like the hard drive went bad.

A couple of things.

You can open the DVD drawer with a straightened out paper clip. There is a hole about an inch from the left side of the tray. It is either on the bottom or the top of the light bar. Run the paper clip along the groove until you feel a hole. Then push the clip straight in and the drawer will open. You will feel some resistance, but if the drawer starts moving, you have found the right spot.

Regarding not seeing anything on the screen: Did you have the unit connected via the component cables (R,G,B) and have it in Progressive mode? If you try to use a different output, the Tivo might not display anything.

Or if you put the unit in standby before disconnecting power, it won't display anything either.

Do you see anything at all? You should see "Powering up, please wait..." If you don't see that, then your power supply might be dead. Does the fan blow air in the back?

Yes you can!! I have the same dvr and have used it for that porpose for converting all my vcr tapes to dvd. Just hook up your vcr to input of the 810h and use the on board menu of the 810H to start recording... They come out great every time...Yes there are rca connectors on the back and also S-video ports.

I hope it will work for
if it works then plz tell me as soon as possbile.:)
