I am just getting started with the TVHD and am really enjoying it so far. I played with YouTube a few times, but it seems like the menus are very slow. I.e., if I am looking at a list of videos and move to the next page, it takes 10-15 seconds to load the thumbnails and descriptions. I would expect it to be much faster. Is it just me or is this standard?
I am using Time Warner digital cable, a LinkSys wireless G router, and the TIVO USB netowrk adapter.
Thanks.

Most TiVos ship with the relatively slow v8.1.7 software from 2007. Furthermore, all guide databases must be indexed in the background for the first ~48 hours after initial setup. The background indexing noticeably slows responsiveness during that period. Most users receive an update to the latest software (now 11.0b) after 4-5 days, and guide data must be re-indexed for another ~48 afters after that update, temporarily slowing responsiveness again. The TivoHD does not reach full responsiveness until 48-72 hours after the v11.0 install.
All that said, performance in YouTube will depend in part on (a) the quality of your wireless connection, which can be affected by interference from other devices and adjacent wireless networks, and (b) your ISP's latency to the servers running the Youtube application.
You can check the System Information screen to see what software version you have. You can also check the System Information to see the status of your wireless signal. A wireless signal in the mid-80s or higher is ideal. If your router uses an external antenna, you may be able to replace its antenna to improve wireless range/performance.

...and the general busy-ness of the servers. Since the HME app actually runs remotely, if their servers are congested, response times will be slow.

I use youtube a lot (love youtube on tivo!) and it def. should not take that long. Its shouldnt take more then 5 seconds or so to load the thumbnails. Im on a wired connection which helps, but 10-15 seconds is too long!

Software is on the most current version. Checked the wireless signal - its about 80-90%. The YouTube data throughput was 1.3MB/s though, which seems pretty terrible. I guess I need to tried a wired connection and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the input.
Is there any bandwidth speed test type of application for the TIVO?

I am on a 100Mbs wired connection and it routinely takes 10-20 seconds to load the thumbnails. Youtube is pretty much unuseable for me.

This is pretty much my feeling about it - way too slow to be usable. Maybe I won't bother with the wired connection after all.

I have been seeing this too... Tivo support wanted to replace unit, but I would have to pay for labor and shipping...about $200! I didnt have the spare cash, so I replaced HDD, thinking maybe the orig. factory one may have been going bad...it didnt make a difference.
Not only is it YouTube, but nextflix and tivo search as well..... my comcast line, when running a speed test is 20Mb down and 10Mb up. My tivo has a 15' cat6 cable running to a gigabit switch...but its slow as hell!! Someone from tivo should offer a free fix for this.... I have had the issue with my tivo since I purchased it 1.5 years a go, and thought it was normal; Then talked my mom into buying a Tivo for her house, and saw the GREAT performance that unit provided at her house, and it was a referb! once i found that out, i called tivo... support calls lasting over 2 months, with no avail except them wanting to replace for aobut $200!!!! I love my tivo, and thought about buying another one...but sadly, I think I may build a high-end media center after the new year, and if pleased with performance, discontinue my tivo service since they are so unwilling to find a resolution for an obviously defective unit, when I continue to pay my monthly fee on time!
