Hi,
I have a TivoHD connected to my Denon 4802 A/V receiver. Since the Denon doesn't support HDMI, I connect the video via component to the Denon and the audio via digital output. Its been great for about 2 years.

Now I am about to replace my plasma monitor. The old one had component video only. The new one supports HDMI.

The question is: Can I connect the HDMI directly from the TivoHD to the monitor and continue to utilize the existing digital audio output.

Does the TivoHD send the same audio signal out the digital audio output as it would via HDMI? Should I expect the audio and video to be in sync?

Does anyone else use this type of configuration?
Thanks,
Steve

That's exactly how our system is setup...HDMI direct from TiVo to the LCD TV and TOSLink (optical) from TiVo to our receiver. Works perfectly.

I was also doing it that way..hdmi to TV and optical to receiver. However, I just bought an Onkyo 705 and that upconverts everything to hdmi so now I have HDMI from comcast DVR and DVD player to the receiver. My media player connects by way of composite to the receiver. Everything connects to TV over a single HDMI cable. The only problem I find is a delay in the picture when I change channels or fast forward the DVR. It seems the receiver has to do a handshake and then the TV has to do one causing the delay.
