I have a pioneer 810 is there a way to record to the hard drive a dvd that you are watching. If not that sure would be a great feature

No, sorry. Copying DVD's is such a hairy hot button issue Tivo would have been sued out of existence by the MPAA for allowing you to "steal" DVD's.

If you play the DVD in another DVD player and run the outputs from the DVD player to the Pioneer's second input, you can record the DVD. But you will have to run the DVD in real time and manually start the DVD. The Pioneer will not record it directly from the DVD.

Also, you won't be able to burn the copy to a DVD. The Pioneer TiVos record all the information from the input, including any copy protection.

Good luck,

My biggest concern is the audio dropping out in recording. While I admit I don't have the best "signal"........ the drop outs arn't there when watching "live", only on the hard drive copy.

Next...... If you start to watch a program that is STILL recording "Chase Play" you can NOT stop watching (from the Hd), if you press STOP all you get is the options yes/no/rename. Unlike when watching a different program (from Hd) while recording, you then get the option to choose which to stop.

From the aerial the plug in sequence is Dvr-810, VCR, then Pioneer LX508a. Why is it I get practically NO signal(its unwatchable) to either the VCR or Plasma when the 810 is either turned off or in standby??

Love to hear your thoughts!!!!!
