Chloe is now trapped in Lois's form 'until she doesn't want it any more'. (Like she'd ever be able to give up her dream life.)
It's also been said that one of the long-time regulars will be killed off.
I suspect it's going to be LOIS who dies, and Chloe ends up trapped in Lois's form for the rest of her life. If so, the Chlark people who wanted Chloe to end up as Lois Lane and be Clark's girl may be 'getting their wish'...
How appropriate.

Oh well...
So much for that guess.

I gave up on this show last season unless its something special (the Legion ep.) Is this Zatanna?
Was it me or was Tom Welling sucking extra hard in this episode? As reference I point to the scene where Chlois asks Clark to help the person getting mugged on the street and he pulls up to the camera and pulls out his phone and voice dials 911.

I thought he did okay this ep. No worse than usual.
I enjoyed this ep much more than I thought I would.

Agree on both points. Plus Zatanna was pretty darn hot.

This ep started off going downhill fast but they really turned it around and I ended up enjoying it. It wasn't great, but it was definitely on the "good" side.
I get what Watchtower is, but is Chloe's role anything special? Or is she it instead of the location/base?

Agreed. I was to the point where I was almost dreading even watching it based on the guide listing.
Surprise! Not only was Zatanna (Serinda Swan) *extremely* well cast, but Erica Durance pulled off an excellent Chloe imitation!
I was expecting the last line of the show to be "Oracle online!"
At any rate, I sure hope the "Smallville" writers get to work on another "magic" episode -- we really need to see more of Zatanna.

Mmm, Zatanna.
I, too, was hoping Chloe would say "Oracle online," but 'twas not to be. I guess she needs to be a Batsuit on first and get shot by the Laughing Man. ;)
I wonder if DC writer Paul Dini had anything to do with this episode. :D

Wait, this episode isn't about Jonah Hex?
I hadn't heard that Zatanna was confirmed to appear so this episode was a pleasant surprise.
Fishnet stalkings? Check.
Backwards talking magic? Check.
John Zatara as her father? Check.
And Serinda Swan? Hot!
I also liked Durance's portrayal of Chloe as well and the fact we see Clark embracing his role as a hero more.
Now, I suspect that Zatanna has to return in order to cast the magic spell that will have everyone "remember" Clark Kent wearing glasses.

Bryan Q. Miller got the writing credit.
Only other work I've seen of his are two previous episodes of Smallville.

If you didn't get the reference, I guess it really is super obscure.
Paul Dini, who is/was a writer for DC animated toons, is known for being obsessed with Zatanna. He wrote both of the episodes in Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited in which she's featured prominently. He even married Misty Lee, a magician with a Vegas act. Check out the Zatanna entry at Wikipedia.

I know who Paul Dini is.
He just finished a good run on Detective Comics which also had Zatanna guest in a number of issues.
It wouldn't have surprised me to see Dini's name on this but I assumed that you simply didn't catch who wrote the episode.

Anyone notice Lois' bad spelling on the list?

Ah, I see where you're coming from. I guess my :D didn't indicate clearly enough that I was kidding.
I bet this will be Dini's favorite Smallville episode ever. :D ;)

I strongly suspect Z will be the means by which people suddenly think Clark's worn glasses since he was a kid, and nobody recognizes Superman as him.
By the way-
The scene at the end on the rooftop...
Clark says to Z "I'm finally the man my father wanted me to be" (which could have meant either Jor-El or Jonathan, funny how it was phrased), but did anyone else notice that at that moment they had a spitcurl in Welling's hair? It was only for that moment, but it was there.
Go back and look for it if you didn't notice it the first time.

I noticed that. It made me flashback to the first Superman movie and Margot Kidder's Lois Lane.

They've made one or two references to the Smallville Lois' bad spelling before. Was a nice touch then too.
