I hate the first part of that challenge.
I hate the idea that these people who have all faced the kind of hatred fat people deal with go to the ranch and still have to deal with it. Popularity contest kinds of things just suck. So unfair. BTW, Aubrey deserved what she got, she was nasty as hell to Tara during first part of the challenge. Which is ironic given that she said the same stuff when it was her....
BTW, Tara rocked in that challenge. Just amazing that she could kick the guys butts so badly. She's a rock star.
BTW, I think she downplayed the weight loss to help next week. 3 lbs in three weeks is just ridiculous for someone who works out as hard as she does.
Really enjoyed watching whiny boy plead for his survival. Good golly what a crybaby.

I agree that the first part of that challenge sucked. However, I *loved* that Tara beat them all.
I hope you're right about Tara downplaying the weight loss.. She is a fierce competitor, and I would hate to see her go home.

I know they have to do the big reveal and party stuff everytime someone goes home, but I thought it was really silly for everyone at Aubrey's to be all gasping and cheering like they hadn't just seen her for almost a whole week one week ago. :)
Didn't really like her, was glad to see her go home. Was really glad that Mike stayed above the line and we didn't have to listen to Ron plead with everyone yet again to keep Mike here.

I liked seeing Laura step up and encourage Tara when she needed it. Along with the kick-ass loss this week, it just seems like Laura finally "gets" it. And wow, Tara rocked. She is amazing.

I completely agree. When Dad said he was amazed? WTF, she was home a week ago, how shocked could he be? Sadly, he isn't gonna do what the girls want. I was not the least bit surprised that Aubrey had problems reintegrating with her daily life. It's one reason why so many of the contestants have had problems keeping the weight off after the contest. It was nice to see that she did figure out how to stop that and get back with the program.

What really impressed me with what she did was keep a video log. It must have taken a lot for her to continue that despite her gaining some of the weight back.

The whole time Tara was PO'd and contemplating leaving, etc., I was thinking, "Hey hold on. It could be that the weight they laid on you could work in your favor instead of against you." I was thinking something along the line of the weight being a counterbalance in the task where the more weight there was, the better it was for the contestant - basically backfiring on the people who laid all that weight on.
When I saw the cars I was thinking maybe they all start with an extra 500 pounds in their cars and remove the amount of weight that you accumulated in the first part. When they explained that weight would just be added, then I was thinking that was kind of wrong (though keeping in line with that type of thing actually being a detriment).
Then she completely blew everyone away and I was actually cheering! IN YOUR FACE Bob's team! I really do hope that her recent weight loss has more to do with her having immunity and not really being subject to elimination than her hitting a wall or something where she won't lose much more.
I would not have felt bad at all if Fillipe had been sent packing. His personality is just grating on me between his over-the-top whooping about things, his laughing hysterically about loading on Tara, his whining and all that. Get off my TV, dude.

I guess I don't understand why Tara felt so singled out - Helen, after all, is at least 20 years her senior, and had almost just as much weight placed on her scale, which was TRULY due to animosity (from Ron), not for gameplay or strategy. Helen was never going to win this, Ron placed that weight purely as an intimidation tactic. I think if anyone should have felt picked on, it would be Helen. But Helen had a great message - bring it on! You see me as a threat, and I am up for the challenge.
I really like Tara, and I hope she wins the whole thing - but the tantrum she threw in the field, it just felt a little transparent. My feelings are, maybe she just wanted someone to tell her how great she is (validation issues, perhaps left over from when she was overweight) and remind her of why she's there, and possibly get an apology from the “gigglers” in the process. While I am really surprised and glad to see Laura step up, be a great friend and tell her those things, Tara will eventually need to be strong enough to remind herself of her strengths and goals when she’s having a weak moment. All that being said, I can’t imagine what it must be like to be on the ranch, away from family and home for such a long time, and to have everyone around you (except your teammate and your trainer) hope for your failure instead of supporting your success. That HAS to be unbelievably hard.
I was grating my teeth when Aubrey, during phase 1 of the challenge, did her “what, are you gonna cry?” jab to Tara… Tara is right – sometimes Aubrey just doesn’t know when to shut her mouth. If Aubrey was on the verge of tears during a challenge, she wouldn’t want someone to be snarky and single her out in front of everyone like that. I thought it was even worse than Ron putting all those bricks on Helen’s scale out of spite.
For once, I cheered for Jillian – when she kept her composure during the trainer picks, and told everyone at the beginning that they have to do what’s right for them, and not to worry about hurting anyone’s feelings. That was the right message these people needed to hear – make the right decision for you, and don’t put anyone else’s feelings first. Way to go, Jillian.
And, to go back to something touched on in a previous thread, Ali Vincent (winner of Season 5) said on her blog that during Season 5, if someone had immunity and gained weight, they lost their immunity and would have to weigh in with everyone else. She mentioned this while recapping the episode where Kristen gains, but got to keep her immunity anyway. Interesting.

Tara showed the power of anger. I do admit many of my person bests in the gym come when I am angry as hell. I will dismiss Tara's little tantrum to the changes in her body screwing with her emotions.

Yeah, I totally thought it was going to backfire and would be a _benefit_ instead of a detriment.
Until I saw that there was a driver in each car, I also was wondering how they'd prevent the car from running over someone if they tripped.

The highlighted phrase is why Tara was upset. If they just matter of factly gave her the weight as the biggest threat, I suspect she would have been fine. It was the cruelty and laughing that put her over the edge. Let's face it, they'll all emotional basket cases after 10 weeks of this mess, frankly by now a lot of emotions come out every year. What amazes me is how quickly these formerly fat people revert to the very cruelty that they all had to face as morbidly obese people. I never ever say anything to heavy people and it never occurs to be to do so. Inside, though I am now close to normal size, I'm still a fat person and always will be. I remember all the ball teams in school where I was the last one chosen ( a cruel method I hope they no longer use ) and that stays with you forever.
Jillian is a professional and while she can sometimes be cruel she knows that each person works differently. They need to be free to follow the course that's best for them. Historically, She has a better record but she is tough and that approach doesn't work on some people.

I didn't expect the first few people to all go to Jillian. I actually thought Kristen was going to, but no one had gone to Bob yet.
Tara was upset because they taunted her every single time they added weight. Helen only had Ron dogging her. Tara had Bobs entire team, plus Mikey. She knows that if she ever drops below the line, she is gone. Thats a bit of pressure.
After seeing how ready she was to leave after the first part, I am starting to doubt if she has been water loading since the first incident.

When he found out that the added weight was going on pulling the car, the kid turned to me and said, that's a 2,000 lb car, I don't think an extra couple pounds will make that much difference. I'm sooo glad Tara won. And wow, she looks terrific. When she was standing next to Jillian in the hallway she looked like a big tall Amazon woman compared to Jillian (which I know she's very tiny).
I couldn't believe Ron said his son was stupid for going to Jillian. I thought it was pretty smart of him. Weren't the lowest percentage weight loss on the board all from Bob's team? And I really thought Laura was going to Bob's team, but glad she smartened up and that Jillian welcomed her with open arms.

Plus the week before that same mentality from Helen cost her $10,000 cash. That's easy to quantify. It's probably building up. It's pretty common in our society to pick on someone that's successful at doing the thing you want to be successful at. I get that. It's got to wearing Tara down though. She's just doing what everyone else is trying to do and it's costing her money and getting her made fun of.
I'm glad she's such a machine though and was able to win.

I thought when Aubrey went home that Mandi looked great. It was painful to see Aubrey gain 9 pounds in just a few weeks. I was afraid she wouldn't be able to lose it. Did she say she wanted to weigh 130 for the finale?? NO WAY.

It maybe painful but that is the reality for us who were once morbidly obese. The second you go back to your old ways is the second the fat come back. I think it was a nice painful reminder why diets always fail instead you must change your life style. I remember being pretty down after putting on almost 20 pounds and 4 inches in 5 weeks knee surgery.

I think he said Mike was an idiot for leaving the decision up to a random coin toss, not the actual result. I thought it was pretty funny - he said something along the lines of my son's an idiot, but all 18 yr old kids are idiots.
Thanks

Late to the party but I wanted to add my Kudos to Tara for kicking some serious butt in that car challenge! A little anger goes a long way... I too cheered. The camera angle on that was priceless. She looked like a Super Hero. :D
Aubrey on the other hand...
How dare her. She's the biggest cry baby on the Ranch. Oh right, not any more... She will never keep her weight off with her situation at home. Poor thing. Why on earth do people have FIVE kids these days? Or 8? It's not like all the other Moms are home with their GIANT broods like it was in the 50's. Unless you are rich (or have someone else to help you), if you have five kids, that's ALL you're going to have time for... Her husband seems fairly useless. I hope she makes it to a safe weight, but I have my doubts.

Aubrey was on the Today show this morning and she looks about the same as when she left. She said she gained the 9 lbs., lost them, then gained some other weight, dropped and now she's down 10 pounds from when she left the ranch. Originally she wanted to be 125 for the finale, but then said her goal would be 149, which would be 100 lbs. lost, but now she wants to be between 165-170. Not working very hard are you Aubrey?
