Installation ends with message saying The installation ended prematurely because an error occurred

Removal ends with message saying The installation ended prematurely because an error occurred

I am in a do loop!

Have you tried the Desktop 'cleaner' utility?

Thanks, that did remove it. But I am still getting message "installed ended prematurely". I search Tivo and tried their two suggestions: reinstall vbscript and registering it.

Anyone have any other ideas - this is really pissing me off.

Look in Task Manager for a process named something like "TiVo Desktop Install Helper". My memory may be off as to the exact name, but if it exists kill it and try again (it will have "TiVo" and "Install Helper" in the name).

I don't have the problem of trying to remove it anymore thanks to Tivo Desktop Cleaner. However, I get the premature install error message every time. I have tried the following:

- re-installed vbscript (per Tivo website)
- registered vbscript (per Tivo website)
- shut down all of my virus protection and firewall prior to install (found that suggestion here)

Any other suggestions on what may be causing v2.7 not to install? I am running XP.

Thanks

You may not have the same error but the method to force a detailed installation log should let me analyze what's happening on your system.
