After weeks of grief, and loss of Windows Media Center....
Here's my fix to the pain of 2.7 as posted on the TiVo site Forum:

Re: TiVo Desktop Software ver 2.7 causing problems with Windows Media Center Receiver Service 7:48 PM
Great News!!!! Got everything recovered by rolling back to 2.6.2 . Thanks to all who submitted possible fixes. Here's a summary: [Running Windows Vista Home Premium, SP1]
Problem: 2.7 caused significant issues including--
Windows Media Center became disabled; Media Center Services would no longer run nor could they be fixed. Error said TV Tuner not working. Desktop Plus wouldn't work right. Photo's 2.0 quit working. And other ghosts as well! Also, sometimes, CPU would scream out of control at 100%!!
Resolution:
Using the tips in this Forum, here's what I did:
Uninstalled 2.7 using Windows uninstall program. Used TiVo "Cleanup" utility. Did a Restart. Ran a Windows Registry Cleaner Utility. Did a Restart again. Re-installed 2.6.2 [using a link from this thread from a good forum member!]. Re-linked Desktop to TiVo. WARNING: Watch out for dialog box to accept a newer version of Desktop! Rechecked everything. Desktop now works and Photo's 2.0 seem to work also. Did a Transfer FROM TiVo and it was clean and fast too. On TiVo, looked at Music and Photos and they appeared as as desired, and at hi-res.
Tried Win Media Center and it ran as prescribed!!
I hope this helps others who have been battered by this stupid 2.7 issue. I also hope TiVo staff is reading this thread to take immediate action. After hours and hours of trobleshooting, over several weeks, and pestering other support lines for help with Media Center, I can't believe it was such a dumb problem! [Yes, I'm venting a little here.]
I will also try to post this on the TiVo Community site as well. Earlier, I searched there for a fix but there wasn't any so I stayed on this Forum.
Good Luck TiVo devotees! .. .....Take note TiVo management!.. [End Insert]
:D
