how do i change the name of the tivo desktop server that appears on my networked tivos under the now playing listings? thanks!!!! jay

I might be wrong, but I though it just used the Windows computer name. So I think you'd need to rename the computer to change the name that shows up in your now playing list.

For WinXP (other versions should be similar) you change the computer name by:
Right Click on 'My Computer'
Select 'Properties'
Select the 'Computer Name' tab
Click 'Change'
Edit the 'Computer Name' text box

Then just accept the change.

On a Mac, TiVo desktop has a system preference which lets you assign the name as well as the folder location of the files you wish to access on the TiVo. I thought the PC version offered something similar.

You can change the location of the My TiVo Recordings folder on a PC, but to change the display name you have to change your computer's name like Jonathan_S pointed out

yup, just went on to the PC, no separate name. JS was right.

If you want customizable names, you can do that with pyTivo.
