I just upgraded Tivo Desktop Plus to 2.7 and now my Window Media Centre PC is having an issue with running its sevices.

Have had Tivo Desktop installed for a few years with no issues, have no added or changed anything else recently.

I get this error every 10 seconds or so.

"Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

These are the details of the error.

szAppName : ehrecvr.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2715.3011
szModName : mciscaler.ax szModVer : 7.11.0.35746 offset : 00003e4
d

From doing some research online similar errors seem to be happening to people when a 3rd part SW over writes some of the Codec's for windows.

For now I have shutdown and disabled the services for media centre which stops the error but also stops it recording anything :-)

Has anyone come across this or know how to fix ?

I am at a loss and looking for any suggestions

Thanks
Martin

I encountered this same problem after I installed TiVo Desktop 2.7. I ended up removing version 2.7 using the TiVo Desktop Cleaner tool (h t t p assets.tivo.com/assets/exe/tivotogo/TivoDesktopCleaner.zip) and then reinstalled version 2.6.1. Not an optimal solution but it worked.

I have experienced the exact same thing since installing Tivo 2.7. There is quite a bit of Web discussion from 2005-2008 (not coinciding with the Tivo install), but yours is the only post I've seen from 2009 (and Tivo 2.7).

I'm going to take fabianro's advice and downgrade to 2.6.1.

ANy reason 2.61 over 2.62?

Good catch innocent. I noticed I had 2.6.1 installed before upgrading to 2.7, so that's what I posted. Turned out I had both 2.6.1 and 2.6.2 files on my computer, so when I reinstalled, it was with 2.6.2.

Problem went away, Media Center works fine again, I just don't have whatever Tivo 2.7 offers.

I would suggest this is a good time to try pyTivo instead of TivoDesktop....

I know for me I am waiting until I get Windows 7 RTM up and running. I never could get Pytivo to work for me on this machine but it is probably some install error. I finally gave up on it for now.
