I use the Roxio app, Tivo Transfer, for transferring from DVR to my Mac.
Lately, programs will not transfer. I can see the box on the network, I
can see the programs on the DVR, I can select a program and tell it to
start transfer, then it tells me the transfer is starting (program goes
to a blue dot for a second or two then goes to a checkmark as if it is
waiting to transfer). However, nothing transfers. All I get is the
spinning gear in the "Active Transfers" row and it shows the number of
programs selected for transfer. However, nothing transfers.
I have been having this problem for the last 3 weeks or so using the Tivo Transfer app with Toast 8. I upgraded to Toast 10 hoping the new? Tivo Transfer app would solve the problem. NOT!
I am using Tivo Transfer version 1.2.2 which came with Toast 10

it would be good to know if the issue is with the transfer itself from the TiVo or if TiVo Transfer is hanging. One way would be to use the "unsupported" browser interface on the TiVo that will allow you to download recordings using a browser.
Go to the Phone & Network Settings screen on the TiVo and see what shows as its IP address in the upper right corner. Then open up a browser and go to https:// followed by the IP address of the TiVo (note that it's "https" and not just "http").
You should be prompted for a user name and password. Use "tivo" (without the quotes) as the user name and your ten digit Media Access Key as the password. If successful, you should see a representation of your Now Playing List -- with download links on the recordings. Try downloading a few and see if they work.

I hope I am not posting to a closed thread, but could not find any rules. I apologize if this is a violation.
I had the same problem about transfers not working, used your directions for the "unofficial" transfer, and the transfer worked fine.
This would appear to suggest the connection is fine, but Tivo Transfer does not. Any suggestions on what to do to get it to work?
Thanks.

I'm not sure what aspect of the transfer using TiVo Transfer isn't working. Does the TiVo show up in the TiVo Transfer window? If so, you likely have a setting on your router that's blocking the Bonjour discovery protocol. There are ways to address this, but I'd like to know what aspect of the transfer in TiVo Transfer isn't working for you.
By the way, it looks like TiVo Transfer (at least the version that came with Toast 9) doesn't get along with Snow Leopard :(

I posted this in another thread, but Patrick from Roxio tweeted about the availability of a public beta of TiVo Transfer that does work with Snow Leopard:

Worked OK in the limited testing I did, but there seems to be a bug that caps the number of programs it will show to 128.
