If you select a program currently being recorded from the Now Playing List and then go to Change recording options, one of the choices for Stop Recording is "Extended". (This is the choice to the left of On-Time, and seems to only be offered in this particular case; it isn't offered as a choice when setting recording options for new recordings or for programs in the To Do List.)

What does Extended mean? I couldn't see any difference when I tried it for a few programs; they stopped recording at their normal times. The only effect I spotted was that Program Details says "Extended?: Yes".

I just noticed this option recently as well, and I'd like to know too. Can anyone answer this?

According to the Tivo Viewers Guide:

When the Extend Recordings setting is turned on, the TiVo service automatically adds extra time to the end of scheduled recordings based on data it receives from the program guide. This helps to ensure that you won’t miss the endings when programs run later than the advertised finish time.
