TiVo HD XL Missing Channels/Gray Screen Problem

Recently I set up a TiVo HD XL unit with one cable card (single stream).
I think at first I was receiving Channel 12 (ABC) and Channel 24 (WCGV (My TV) with Time Warner Cable (TWC) in Milwaukee. However, now I get a gray screen on these channels, no picture or audio. I do get the HD channels of ABC, Channel 512 and the HD WCGV on Channel 524 through the cable card.

If I pull out the cable card, the channels come back.

I called TiVo Tech support, and he thought it was because I had one single stream cable card.

I called TWC and they told me that they don't install multistream cable cards.

Any ideas about this issue? Do I really need two single stream cable cards?
Should I try to do another channel scan?
Let me know.

If you want to record two channels at once then, yes, you will need two single stream cards (or one multistream card). Are you unable to get channels 12 and 24 on both tuners? Try switching tunders to check. Sounds like they may not have inititalize the card correctly. Perhaps when they come to install the second one they can get them both working correctly. It works when you take out the cards because those channels are analog.

Yeah. That's what the TWC CSR here in Charlotte said also. Swore up and down they had only "S-cards". No M-Cards. So when the independent Tech contractor called me about the appointment I asked him about it. He said don't believe what the TWC CSR said. As an independent contractor he had Multistream cards. Only a very few S-cards he kept around for actual S3s. Said he always puts Multistream cards in THD and XLs. Of course YMMV but I'll bet you can get the Multicard if you deal with the tech that comes to install it.

Try run guided setup with the cable cards installed.

I tried switching tuners but it doesn't work. I checked my Channel Banner and it doesn't have the Tuner Swap symbol. I think because I'm using a single stream card in Slot 1 that the other tuner isn't working. The TiVo manual says that you must have one multi-stram cable card or two single stream cable cards to record two digital cable channels. I can't even switch from two analog channels with the single stream cable card!
