View Full Version : All and ancient podcasts re-uploaded after upgrade
I upgraded to Tivo Desktop Plus 2.7 from 2.6 the other day. Since then, all my old video podcasts that I downloaded with iTunes are being re-uploaded to Tivo. Some of these date back to November!
I have iTunes podcasts configured to only keep the last 5 episodes. I have Tivo Desktop Plus video sharing to keep only the last 5 or 10 episodes. Are all these ancient podcasts coming from the Tivo cache? Why can't the new version of Tivo Desktop keep track of what the previous version had already uplaoded, and why does it have to upload everything all over again?

I have the same problem. No idea how to stop it. Sometimes it uploads again files that I watched and deleted. Sometimes it uploads multiple copies of the same file and they all show up in my to do list, with the same name. Tivo Desktop 2.6.2 did not have this problem.

I'm not sure exactly since I don't have Plus, but I believe 2.7 keeps track of what it downloaded (and uploaded??) in the Cookies file found in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\TiVo Desktop
I have XP and don't log into my computer so Owner is the only active account.
Do you start the TiVo service with the computer boots or at login? Login with different accounts?
If the Cookies file (which can be viewed with Notepad/Wordpad) is, in fact, the keeper of uploads/downloads, it must not have been updated during the upgrade from 2.6 to 2.7.
Added: I don't think the cache files in the Cache directory are causing your problem. I believe they are only used for populating the Pick Recordings to Transfer window. TD does a lousy (non-existent) job of cleaning up files in that directory. Deleting them once and a while a is probably a desirable, if not good thing to do from time to time.
