For the life of me, I cannot get my Tivo to transfer files to my PC now. Here are my specs:

Tivo Series 3 HD connected to the router through a wired connection
Linksys wireless-g router (WRT54GS)
Laptop using Windows XP
Tivo Desktop 2.6.2 (tried 2.7, but still no go)

Things were working great about 2 weeks ago. Last week I tried to transfer 2 basketball games and only one transferred completely. The other wouldn't transfer, but I don't recall the message that was given. Fast forward to this weekend and I try to transfer the game that wouldn't transfer earlier as well as 2 other games, one of which was in HD, and none of them would transfer.

This was all done in 2.6.2. I upgraded to 2.7 and still couldn't get anything to go, so I switched back to 2.6.2 and it still didn't work. What happens now is, I select which file I want to transfer, but in the transfer status window, there is no time estimate given and it says "unavailable". The games will act like they will transfer for a minute or so and then I will get the message "this file is not making progress", or "the tivo DVR is busy with another transfer" (when there is no other transfer going on), or it acts like it cannot connect to the DVR or find the file.

When I launch the Tivo Desktop, it will show the proper list of files on the Tivo with the correct name. The router name and IP address listed are the right ones. I can ping the connection, but nothing transfers. I have tried resetting the Tivo several times, deleting/reinstalling the Tivo desktop, disallowing transfers at tivo.com and the switching back to allowing transfers, and still cannot get it to work.

I have also tried transferring it through Firefox, but the transfer still hangs on all files and only a minimal amount transfers.

Any ideas? Maybe I'm not resetting/restarting things in the right order, but I am getting frustrated with it! Everything was just fine a few weeks ago!

Thanks for any help!

As for the shows that are shown "unavailable", you might try clearing the Tivo Desktop cache, found here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\local settings\application data\TiVo Desktop\Cache

I would also check the Tivos to do list and make sure no transfers are pending. If so, cancel them.

Finally, I would suggest rebooting you entire network. Shut everything down, then restart the modem/router, then the computer, and last, the Tivo.

I had a problem similar to this recently. I think it turned out that I was trying to transfer two shows from my Tivo to PC that had the same name, show name and episode name. It's like near the end of the first transfer it would start the second which would mess up the first. After this happened, I couldn't transfer anything from the Tivo until I rebooted the Tivo.

Thanks for the help! I have tried clearing the cache multiple times. I turned off all the tivo active files (beacon, transfer, etc.) and deleted the tivo transfer files in the tivo folder you described above, but it didn't help.

I'll try the restarting of everything that you suggested above when I get home tonight and see what that will do. (Keeping fingers crossed!)

Any ideas?

Well, I finally was able to transfer a 20GB HD recording last night, but none of my SD recordings will transfer. I usually have SD recordings, so I'm not sure why that won't work now.

Anyone else have this type of problem?
