Recently I purchased a TIVOHD and was concerned after hearing all the nightmarish descriptions of CableCard installations.
Well, mine was no problem. The Comcast tech (Marietta, GA) was on time, new what a cable card was and how to install it. He installed and configured a single M card in 10 minutes. Everything works and sounds great. He did mention that they have their share of bad cards, thats why he always brings at least 2. It's been running for several hours now and I have seen only 2 sight artifacts. Hears hoping that this experience becomes the rule instead of the exception.:)

I have had my 2 s3's installed (2 s-cards each) and my TiviHD at a different time (1 m-card) all Comcast, without a hitch. The good experiences are out there.

I've self-installed M cards in two TiVo HDs using Comcast (Seattle area) without incident. The Comcast people I dealt with on the phone to pair them were knowledgeable and pleasent to deal with.

I have to agree. I had 2 Verizon FiOS S-Cards installed in a THD about two years ago without a problem. A couple of weeks ago I bought another THD (Sear's 199) and got an M-Card installed in that THD and at the same time the installer replaced the two S-Cards in my 'old' THD with an M-Card. All this with no problem.

+1. I've had positive experiences with Time Warner in the eastern Ventura County area in Southern CA. I have had M-cards installed in two different TiVo HDs over the past 9 months, including one yesterday, with no problems from the very courteous TW installers. It helps to activate and run guided setup on the TiVo several days in advance of the cablecard installation, as mentioned in the instructions.

I had a FIOS tech install my cable cards last week. Already had FIOS internet/phone - simply added the TV. He didn't know anything about TIVO and little about the cards but was done in about 90 minutes after I convinced them to skip the MOCA; leave the cat 5 for my internet and just use straight coax for the teevee.
I too had everything activated and ready to go for him.

Good to hear. This is exactly the way it should be. If Comcast would send better-trained techs for cablecard installs, this could be the "normal" experience.

I've had four from Comcast with no issues and another four from Verizon, again with no issues.
I really like the way Verizon can set up the head end from their laptop and not have to call some central number.
