returning to tivo from directv

would like to know i have found my old series 2 tivo back in the closet but unable to find my remote and will be buying a wireless router this weekend to make my connection, can i use my remote from my tv or a old directv remote to get this going or must i have a tivo remote

The Directv remote should work. I know at least it works the other way, series 2 on a Directivo.
