Just wanted to know how many of you out there with a iPhone/iPod Touch have the TiVo S3/HD/XL remote software installed & are your opinions of it?

There are two version of this. The "Free" crippled version & the full uncrippled version for $2.99

There's actually three different apps in the Apps Store that allow you to control your Series 3 TiVo.

MyDVR (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=302274072&mt=8) which is free.
Remote T (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=301387964&mt=8) which is $0.99.
And DVR Remote which comes in paid (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=301759016&mt=8) and free (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=303528135&mt=8) versions.

Each one has it's own strengths and weaknesses.

Interesting.. I only found the last one. DVR Remote. Didn't seen the other two. I will have to give my DVR a try. I hate having to spend money before trying it. Especially if I CAN'T return it!

Jailbroken phones have the option to download code from other places than the Apple Store.

TiVoRemote is available on one of these places.

I am using DVR Remote (http://appbeacon.com/apps/016579/dvr-remote) on my iPod Touch, which after the most recent upgrade, really works well!! Just be sure to enable Remote Network control on each Tivo unit or it will not work. Also, if you have quite a few recordings, which I do on several of my S3 units with external storage, you might need to increase the Session Timeout increment to 60 seconds - that can be done under the Settings from the main screen and NOT within the application itself. Please also be sure to have your Media Access Key (MAK) handy as it is required.

Control changes take place very quickly with no delay!!

I'm as cheap as the next person but we're not talking large amounts of money here.

I like DVR Remote the best of the three.
Remote T is almost as functional but doesn't look as good.
MyDVR works and does what's advertised.

yeah, for $3 it was worth paying just for an hour of experimenting.

BTW, can you clarify what the pay version does that the Lite one doesn't?

This free version is based on the 1.02 codebase, and works the same as the full version with the following limitations:

• No replay, pause, or skip button
• Favorite channels limited to two
• Now Playing limited to 10 items
• Text Entry playback limited to 5 characters

I use it to control the family room tivo and send the signal up to the bedroom on occasion. It's a geek thing, and it burns the iPod battery pretty fast, but I like it.

As far as I have been able to tell. The Paid version has the Pause button as well as the 30 second skip and 7 second skip back. The Now playing list I think will also view more than 15 shows. I know I have 124 items in my play list & my free version is only showing 15 of those 124 shows.

Currently I have added a waterproof otterbox for my iPod Touch so that I can use it while sitting in my hottub and control the music that I have piped out to my patio & still be able to tell what I am playing. I use the iTunes/Airport express for that. I love my waterproof otterbox. Now my iPod Touch just floats around in the hotub! :) (The otterbox I am using won't work with the iPhone, only the iPod Touch)

As far as the using the remote to control my TiVo, I am using it in my bedroom because of I have the TiVo locked away in the closet. This saves me from having to leave the closet door open as well. :)
