First, a confession: I have a TivoHD connected to the network using the Tivo Wireless Adapter and I'm running pyTivo on a Linux system. I'm posting this here, instead of the pyTivo forum because I'm pretty certain this is a Tivo problem, and not a pyTivo issue.

I can access the TivoConnect server from the machine running pyTivo via http ://localhost:9032/. I can access the TivoConnect server from another machine on the network via http ://192.168.8.104:9032/ (Tivo is 192.168.8.103). Running Wireshark on both the pyTivo server and another machine on the network shows the TivoConnect Beacon is being sent out at regular intervals. However, the Tivo is not responding to the beacon. I can ping the Tivo from both systems on the network and I can connect to the Tivo servers to update the TV listings and such.

This setup was working for several weeks prior to this weekend. This weekend I was watching a movie on Netflix when it hung. I unplugged the Tivo and it wouldn't move past the "Just a few more minutes" screen. I called Tivo Customer Support and they had me do the #2 reset (or whatever it's called). Since then, I haven't been able to access my shares. I've tried using just the beacon and also tried manually adding the server, both without any success.

No firewall is installed on the machine running pyTivo and a port scan shows that all necessary ports are open.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
-Ice

Manually adding the server under the Showcases menu won't help because pyTiVo doesn't show up on that menu (it's on the NPL).

I assume you've tried (again) rebooting both the TiVo and the pyTiVo server? When you say you've tried using just the beacon, do you mean you've set the beacon= like in pyTivo.conf? It seems like, over on the pyTivo forums, that some people need to use this where others (like myself) do not.

I feel like a moron for not trying that first. :o Rebooted the Tivo and now it's working.
