Lou Diamond Phillips, Ming-Na! (http://scifiwire.com/2009/02/lou-diamond-phillips-ming-na-join-stargate-universe-cast.php)

Interesting--with Robert Carlyle and now them, they'll have three actual names in the cast (granted, not big names, but at least medium names), which is about two more than SG-1 had and three more than Atlantis.

For how long? Remember, Robert Patrick was in Atlantis, too.

He was a guest star.

Clearly.
These people are part of the regular cast. And my point was, the three biggies are bigger than any main cast actors in Stargate since RDA. That surprises me, considering how cheap Sci-Fi is.

And it makes me wonder how long they can sustain those salaries.

Exactly. Yet they either believe they can, or they're hoping the show will be canceled before it becomes a problem. :D

Or perhaps one or two of them is at the point in their career where desperation overwhelms pride?

What's the buzz on this? Is it supposed to be good? I read the summary off that link, but it's hard to tell. I haven't watched any of the SG series (tried Atlantis, but couldn't stick with it). I'm so partial to the original movie that it was difficult for me to get into any of the series.

Since they're still casting, any buzz at this point would be pretty meaningless...

I'm very in. I was big fan of Atlantis. If they can avoid the geeky scientist storylines that every so often plagued Atlantis and SG I'll be happy.

Given that these two new additions have an "ethnic" look (i.e. they aren't anglo saxon), my bet is they will be two aliens that the team meets right after their unfortunate accident that got them stuck on the ship. These aliens will amazingly enough speak English and look just like humans. ;)
