Any ideas gang?

Kickstart 52..green screen for 5 seconds, reboot, reboot and or hang...

Can you try divorcing the eSATA drive and then during the next reboot run KS57 and/or KS58 (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=5643823#post5643823)? Sounds like data corruption of some nature or possibly a failing hard drive. If that doesn't work I'd run KS54 (same link) with and without the eSATA drive attached and see what comes back.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Yeah, ever since I moved and had gotten Verizon, my thoughts were that going from an M card to 2 S cards was my problem...nope...
I did everything even a 52 and it just keeps rebooting...downloading Instant Cake right now, and will place a 1 gig into her when I get back home...
I just hope it's not a hassle getting the CCs reinitalized...

I just hope it's not a hassle getting the CCs reinitalized...If you have Verizon FiOS, then there's no need.
Verizon does not pair their CableCards to a specific device like most other providers, so you can swap them in and out of different CableCard boxes at will.

Thanks for that info...
Still...why did the hard drive fail after 11 was loaded?...you just gotta wonder...

Thanks for that info...
Still...why did the hard drive fail after 11 was loaded?...you just gotta wonder...It's entirely possible that parts of the hard drive had gone bad, but those bad sectors did not contain any essential software or data. When the new software installed, the software may have been written to those bad sectors, the result being corruption and instability.

I haven't looked for a while, but I'm pretty sure there is a forum here where members can exchange things...maybe snag that original Tony Orlando and Dawn LP you've been searching for? ;)

I am stuck in this same loop. Hoping not to have to get an Instant Cake image.
I copied my shows off prior to doing a 1 TB drive upgrade. I unplugged my DVR expander. I followed the instructions on the screen, entered thumbs down three times then ener. It show the configuring do not uplug scrren for a few moments then reboots and comes right back to the device not detected/divorce screen.
If I reconnect the expander it gets the green scrren for serious problem attempting to fix, a few moments late it reboots to the same thing.
I've tried KS 57 and 52 still the same results.
Just a few days ago a KS 54 passed both drives as fine.

I am stuck in this same loop. Hoping not to have to get an Instant Cake image. <snip>After an internal hard drive upgrade the eSATA drive plug and play feature is lost. The addition of an eSATA drive post upgrade requires it to be married to the internal drive. In other words, you can't upgrade the internal drive and simply plug in an eSATA drive anymore.
Did you follow the instructions to marry your eSATA drive to your new 1TB drive when you did your upgrade? It doesn't sound like it worked if you did. All is not lost though. You'll need to pull your new internal drive, connect it and your eSATA drive to a PC and follow the instructions in the Drive Expansion and Drive Upgrade FAQ (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=5616160#post5616160) sticky thread (Section IV, #10).
Let us know how it goes.

I had an unmodified TIVO HD with the supported 500Gig MyDvr expander. I was unable to divorce it. If I left the internal drive disconnected I got an endless loop of the divorce screen, and If I connected the drive I got the serious problem screen (Like a KS 57) followed by an immediate reboot and repeat.
Tried Kickstart 52, 54, 57, 58 all no joy,
Finally gave up and bought the Instant Cake image and put it on the new 1 Terabyte Wester Digital EVCS drive.
It upgraded to 11b last night. Later this week I'll take it out again to get a good backup image with WinMfs.
Seems that there is no way to divorce the plug and play expander using the the MFS tools, so my only choices where to get Tivo to replace the Tivo HD or just buy the Instant Cake image. Since I wanted to upgrade to 1 Terabyte (And the better drive) anyway I went with buying the image.

Since I wanted to upgrade to 1 Terabyte (And the better drive) anyway I went with buying the image.Probably the smart move. Odd that the original divorce didn't work. I did that a few times while experimenting and it always worked if I followed the instructions (http://www.tivo.com/mytivo/howto/getconnected/howto_add_recording_capacity.html).
In any case, I'm still not clear if you're still wanting to add an eSATA drive to your upgraded TiVo or not. If so, again, plug and pray will no longer work and you'll need to follow the instructions to marry it to your new internal drive in the first post. It's not difficult, just a few clicks...more time consuming than anything.
Otherwise, enjoy all of that new real estate!

I'm going with just Internal now that I have 1Tb. After following all the threads on the expander and drives and 11b stability it seems like the internal drive was the best route to go. For longer term storage I can just move recordings to a PC drive.
160Gb was not enough for daily use, but 1 Terabyte combined with offline longer term storage seemed like the sweet setup to get the most performance and stability from the Tivo.
I was only divorcing the expander so I could have a single drive setup to make a backup, and image the new drive keeping my season passes etc.
I'm kicking myself for not opening the case and making a backup months ago before I connected the expander.
I found several postings from others who had trouble divorcing the MyDvr expander, both here and at mfslive and others, but was not able to find anyone that was able to resolve it short of replacing the Tivo or image.
So... a bit of Aggravation and 19.99 spent, but now all is well again in Tivo Land.

I'm going with just Internal now that I have 1Tb. <snip>Ah, got it now. That's exactly what I ended up doing with respect to upgrading...just have the larger internal drive now and the "old" external drive is happily backing up one of my Macs. Glad to hear things are going well now!
