Video Format error on HDMI.

Just ordered another TIVOHD after a previous machine started spontaneously restarting after I hooked it up.

The original machine also wouldn't work on HDMI. I got a "Video Format unsupported" error on my Samsung 40" LCD. The error continued no matter what resolution I had the machine set at. I then used component and the display was normal.

My question is this...since the manual shows connections to component and not HDMI, would I be better off to use component? Would this avoid the error I received? Many thanks!

New TiVo’s do not come with the latest software. I would update your TiVo to the latest software which I believe should be version 11.0. Then try the HDMI connection, the new software may correct your problem.

I have the Samsung LN-T4053 and use HDMI. My S3 has the latest software, and a month or so ago I updated the firmware on the TV, which resolved intermittent audio losses through the HDMI port.
