View Full Version : Where Is The Missing Machine?

Strange!! I recently connected a new TiVo machine to my wireless router setup, putting it in place of an older model. This means I still have two machines with two TiVo branded wireless router connectors attached - one to each unit. The older TiVo (a series 2 dual tuner model) can see the new machine (which of course has a different "name" than the older model it replaced). However, the new TiVo machine (a TiVo HD model), does not list the older machine still in use when looking at the bottom of the Now Playing list. I can transfer recordings from the new machine to the old machine but not the other way around. What gives? All my machines are properly listed on the TiVo Website in my account profile.

Did you transfer service from the older TiVo that you replaced to the new one? If you did, did you let it connect to the service after the transfer so that it could be properly deactivated? If you don't do this, MRV will not work, as the function is still tied to the old one.
The old has to connect, and then the new one has to connect for the transfer of functionality to complete. At least, this is what happened to me when I replaced an S2 with an HD.

When I replaced my S2DT with an HD it took a couple of days for the other TiVo to reognize the new unit on the network but I never had to reconnect the old unit.

I don't wish to disconnect the temporarily unhooked TiVo machine - it will be relocated to a bedroom. I bought an extra TiVo adapter for that purpose. Thanks to both for your replies. I will call TiVo support on Monday to get their "take" on the matter.

I could be wrong, but the new TiVo did not MRV properly until the old one connected. Perhaps it times out on its own?
