Your recordings will remain unless you delete them.

Further, so long as the copy bit is not set by provider (most set just for premium, or paid VOD) you can transfer those shows to another TiVo or your computer. This lets you have a second TiVo with no cards (or their cost) and transfer recorded shows from the carded TiVo.
