Hi, newby here. I'm wondering what the difference is between these models, is one older? Any general advice on picking up a dvd-tivo is also appreciated. tia, Wayne

The SD-H400 is a DVD player only, and is a Series 2 (you can hack the OS with just software mods). It also uses a proprietary remote.
The RS-TX20/40 are Series 2.5 (meaning a PROM mod is needed for system hacks), DVD reader/writer, and use a Peanut remote, albeit a slightly different one for DVD models.
If you care, the Toshiba and Pioneer units come with the free TiVo Basic service, the Humax DVD recorder TiVo needs subscription.
