Hi All
I have a tivo series 2 toshiba RS TX120 and just recently hooked it up to a channel master CM-7000 converter [I bought from solid signal for $48 plus shipping]and it is all working flawlessly.
Anywho, I also have a series 3 HD with lifetime, and if I understand correctly, these digital series 3's don't use video compression, which is great if you want high quality video without artifacts.
My question, in reference to the series 2 toshiba RS TX120, if I use this unit ,which was previously analog, with a digital converter box, will it use data compression, or not since the video data received is digital?

Series 3 - doesn't use additional compression on digital channels; the digital signal it is receiving is already compressed, and is simply stored.

Series 2 - it is still receiving an *analog* signal; the converter is receiving the digital signal, decompressing & converting it to analog. Converter is short for digital-to-analog converter. The Series 2 is digitizing the analog then compressing as it did before. So there will be some quality loss vs. the series 3 even on best quality setting, and more loss on the lower quality ones.
