Why are my TiVos doing this?

I happened to be up late tonight and noticed that at 4:00am all three of my TiVos started recording something.

I have nothing scheduled to be recorded at this time and all are set to not record TiVo suggestions, so I looked to see what they were doing.

They are all recording a "Teleworld Paid Programming" show on the Discovery Channel. Additionally, the show does not appear in the "Now Playing List" of any of the TiVos.

Why are my TiVos doing this, what the hell else are they recording that I don't know about, how do I stop them from doing this and why would they record something but not show it in the "Now Playing List"?

Every TiVo ever made since the beginning of time has been recording the TeleWorld Paid Programming. They all have a hidden season pass.

BTW Teleworld was the original name for the company before they changed it to TiVo.

Interesting. But I've never seen it in my play list and these don't show there either. Why record something and never make it available to me? I mean, if I never know about it, and therefore never will be able to watch it, why bother?

-steThose are used for the yellow star items and other stuff. At one time during/before the teleworld recording they would send Guide data also.

If you want to see what the Tivos recorded, just go into Showcases and browse the different stuff there.

I just noticed my Tivo doing this last night, and I had the same reaction as the OP. I even stopped the recording, and it started itself back up a few min later. It's a little disconcerting the first time you see it.

I could swear that the full info page (i.e. right arrow a few times to cycle through the display options) says something like "This is a Tivo Service recording" or something along those lines. I remember seeing that on my S1.
