View Full Version : LJ's HTTPD log No Longer Working in Tivoweb

LJ (www.ljay.org.uk) created a Tivo application to allow Tivoweb users to log external access attempts to their Tivo over the internet via their router and to log them in a log file called httpd that could be viewed in the Logs section of Tivoweb 1.9.4

The details on how to install httpd-tt.tcl are listed at www.ljay.org.uk/tivoweb/tivo_httpd.html

Recently I suffered a complete /var/hack wipeout on my hard drive and have now been able to fully reinstall both Tivoweb 1.9.4 and TivoWebPlus 2.1

I seem to have got everything working again including DailyMail and Cron and the one and only thing I do not have working again is the httpd log file which should be created by LJ's httpd-tt.tcl file that is residing in my /var/hack/tivoweb-tcl directory as specified by LJ

The problem is that the httpd log file simply does not exist when I try to view it in the Logs section of Tivoweb. This file always used to be there in my previous Tivoweb 1.9.4 install and let me view any recent access attempts to the Tivo from the internet including the IP address of the computer attempting the access.

I am at a loss to understand precisely why httpd-tt.tcl is not generating this httpd log file any more and have tried most of the obvious fixes like reloading the httpd-tt.tcl file from the www.lay.org.uk website etc. However I do notice that my /var/hack/tivoweb-tcl directory also contains a file called httpd-tt.itcl and I wonder what that module does given that most Tivoweb itcl modules reside in the /var/hack/tivoweb-tcl/modules subdirectory. httpd-tt.itcl is less than 1k in size compared to a size of over 24k for httpd-tt.itcl.

I also seem to recall that Johala Reewi's xtivoweb application requires replacement of some http related files on Tivoweb and I wonder if the current installation of xtivoweb on my Tivo is in fact knocking out the operation of the httpd log by httpd-tt.tcl With that in mind I may try deleting xtivoweb from my tivoweb-tcl modules directory and then seeing if the httpd internet access log now feels any more like creating itself. I also notice that I have a file in my Logs page called http but it is an empty file with no contents.

Any thoughts and suggestion on how I can get my httpd log working again and/or how equivalent internet access logging functionality can be provided under TivoWebPlus 2.1 (which I am quite prepared to set up as my default version of TivoWeb even though I would still switch to TivoWeb 1.9.4 using www.tivohackman.com for certain legacy apps not supported in TivoWebPlus 2.1) would be greatly appreciated.

Bump, bump.

I find it very annoying I cannot get my httpd logging working again.

Surely mike, the heavenly citrus or one of the forum's other resident Tivo experts must have some idea of the likely cause of this problem?

But surely Pete haven't you taken on the role of expert looking at the worldly advice that you keep giving on this forum :rolleyes:

Well at least you are managing to keep the last days posting list long enough to encourage fleeting forum viewers to stay and look :D:D
