Are there any things that may cause me to get no video output at all from the Tivo? Other than the obvious, it's knackered ;)

I am trying to get it to work on a TV that has no SCART (it's a NZ TV that only does Composite and Component, no RGB) but I've tried connecting with a SCART->Composite cable with no joy and also tried a SCART->RGB/Component cable. I realise I wouldn't get a correct signal using SCART-> Component but I should still be seeing something right?

I've installed a Turbonet card with no trouble though and can see the Tivo on my network for telnet access, etc. Is there anything I can do to test or diagnose my problem? Or is it just highly likely my SCART ports or Motherboard are knackered?

Thanks!

Are you sure your NZ TV can accept a UK PAL signal?

On the settings on the tivo you can select composite or RGB?

I can't get to any settings at all. I get no video output at all. Unless there's one I can do from telnet perhaps? Or in TivoWebPlus?

Right about now I'm unsure that my NZ TV can take a UK PAL signal but NZ uses PAL as well. I understand there may be some sound issues with using the aerial input (possible) but that shouldn't affect the video out of the SCARTs should it? IIRC NZ uses PAL B/G and the UK PAL I?

AFAIK PAL B/G differs from PAL I only in the way it handles audio: video should be the same in both standards.

TiVo settings allow you to switch between PAL only or PAL and RGB - it always outputs PAL from the TV SCART.

Have you tried hooking up your TV via Tivo's RF (aerial) output rather than the SCART socket (i.e. connecting an aerial cable from the RF output on Tivo to the aerial input on your TV)? You won't get audio but you should see video after re-tuning your TV. At least this will prove your Tivo's ok (won't prove the SCART's ok, though) and let you get to the settings.

The problem is unlikely to be a fault with Tivo's video output, or the SCART sockets - more likely to be the connection to your TV.

What inputs does your TV have? Composite + L/R audio? If so, audio shouldn't be an issue because Tivo will do the PAL decoding and leave you with a straight audio signal for your TV L/R inputs. As far as video is concerned, it's just possible that your SCART -> Composite lead was wired as an input rather than an output. You can get a scart adaptor from Maplins (L84BA) which will couple the PAL video and audio outputs from the TV SCART to phono (RCA) sockets which you can then connect direct to the TV.
