Hi: I already have three Tivos, so I'm not exactly a beginner. But, I'm having trouble hooking up the Toshiba. We had it in our condo, which we sold -- hooray!! So, I decided I should hook it up in our bedroom. I think I've done all the connections right: cable from wall into Cable Box IN, to Toshiba out to TV IN. It doesn't work! I also hooked up the audio/video cables out from Cable box to in on Toshiba. The TV is old and only has one Video and one Audio. I tried those too. Do I need them? I also hooked up the phone line, but still get nothing but a blue screen. I can still get TV, but not with the Tivo. I read that you can't use the internet connection until it is upgraded.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, Peggy

Assuming you do have everything connected up correctly, I would suggest rerunning Guided Setup, making sure you choose the Video In with the RCA jacks instead of the RF In.
Also, if you now have your video entering the TV through video input jacks instead of the RF input, do you need to push a particular button on the TV remote to view that input ?

I can't get to Guided Setup because all I get is a blue screen. I had the RF input on TV connected, but also RCA jacks. Should I not have both? I tried on the TV switing to Input 1 but only got static patterns. This TV only has two RCA inputs -- video and one audio. I can't believe I can't figure this out! Thanks, Peggy

I think we found the problem. The RF output on the DVD units does not work like on the other Series 2 TiVos. It doesn't output the TiVos menus. It just is used as a passthru for the RF cable. You must use the RCA jacks to display the TiVo menus.
Try connecting the RCA jacks, either the composite output (yellow), the S-Video (funny black jack), or the component (red, green, blue RCA jacks). You'll also need to connect the audio outputs.
Good luck,

Another thing to check is the progressive switch on the back of the Toshiba. When switched to progressive mode, I don't think you'll get a usable interlaced signal from either the RF or composite RCA outputs.
