It is apparent that Desktop started with transfers from DVR to PC only. Later, transfers from PC to TIVO were tagged on. Currently there is no consistency in the way you do one versus the other. Even the naming of the same functions is inconsistent. For example, why not have the View menu have the options to view Desktop NPL or DVR NPL? Why does View, Publish Video only take you to the publish directory and not show you file names as can be done for transfers the other way ? And why not a tranfers status button that includes the status of PC to DVR transfers?

TiVo seems to be making incremental improvements. Version 2.7 switched from using the Beacon to Bonjour, brought in newer codecs and new background applications that do the actual conversions and transfers, and overhauled the server that feeds the displays on the TiVo DVRs. My guess is that the front end is next on their list, but it is only a guess. I would like to see them fix the counter that can count only the numbers 1, 11, and 41, it is comical that such a seemingly easy fix was never done in version after version. I would like to see the Now Playing screen on the computer group similar to the way the TiVo DVR screen does. I would also like to see more status on what the background apps are doing, in either direction as you mentioned. Here is to hoping we see some or all of those sorts of things in the next six months.
