Javahmo or mythmusic or tivodesktop

Thinking of setting up a music and photos database (that is also ipod friendly), and would appreciate any tips or suggestions.

I only use 6.2a so galleon is not option.

I am assuming that javahmo is better than desktop 2.1 for pix and music, e.g playlists, slideshows concurrent with music etc.

Does mythmusic offer something better than javahmo?

At this point, I plan to dust off an old desktop and convert it from windows to linux. I am leaning toward ubuntu and banshee but would welcome other recommendations.

For jhmo, I understand it is critical to have the recommended version of java (1.4.2). How much will this impede firefox and other apps? Or is it worth it to set up two instances of java?

I set up two java installs and even posted about it on ubuntu's forums.

A couple of the JavaHMO modules are broken, but if you're just using music and photos it still works well. I posted instructions for installing under Vista at DDB; some of the Java stuff might be useful even under Linux:
